In Brazil there are no restrictions by public authorities regarding foreigners entering the country

In Brazil, there are no restrictions by public authorities regarding foreigners entering the country. Given this, there are companies that have already imposed restrictions on business trips to China and other countries and indicated that employees returning from those countries do the work from their homes. In this scenario, doubts arise about what measures should be taken by Brazilian companies that have global business in relation to their employees, under the terms of the labor legislation.

The main guideline is the responsibility of companies to take actions to mitigate the risks to the health and safety of all workers, maintaining a safe environment involving the affected employees, the Internal Accident Prevention Commission (CIPA) and, also, the Specialized Service in Safety Engineering and Occupational Medicine (SESMT). As we are facing a global epidemic, the performance of companies cannot be restricted to typical occupational diseases. Preventive actions should be the engine to educate and guide employees and collaborators in the face of the current reality.

There is no specific provision in the national labor legislation for the world epidemic scenario, but the principle of general protection for the health of those involved must be absorbed, creating tools to prohibit any treatment of discrimination against employees who have been in risky places and care general and equal to unexposed employees.
